On the 15th of January 2015, the reigning pope arrived in the Philippines. During hi five-day visit, I was able to observe our fellow countrymen. They seem to be disciplined and obedient. That's why I wondered if they're doing that because someone who is very respected is coming or that's what they really are. Because of that, the moment I saw the crowds on the television, I felt they're warm welcome for the pope. But I am still doubting and can't believe that they are all Filipinos.
Why do I seem so negative about their attitude towards the pope? Well, maybe I am not used to see us Filipinos to act like that. Maybe my judgments to Filipinos are inaccurate. I see Filipinos as barbaric and wild humans but maybe I'm just wrong. I just realized that everyone can change. Well not just anyone but everything can change. Because of the Papal visit, I gained hope that us Filipinos can still be united regardless of our religion and state in life.
I am just glad to see my fellow Filipinos show their affection and passion to see the pope. Though I'm not a religious person, I highly respect the current Pope, not just as a pope, but also a person who treats everybody equally. Through that event, I gained hope that one day, we Filipinos can learn our lessons and change for the best. I congratulate everyone who were part of the Papal visit for having a successful event. One more thing, I just realized this while typing this. It takes someone who is highly respected and foreign in our land for us to be disciplined. Maybe because we value our dignity and pride as a Filipino.
